COVID-19 Notice

Benzie Senior Resources continues to deliver services throughout Benzie County making necessary adjustments in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The following programs/services are still available:

 

Home Delivered Meals. Our current Home Delivered Meals schedule is Monday through Friday. We are delivering hot, cold, and frozen meals made fresh in our kitchen. We offer the following options for receiving meals:

  • Delivery once a week with one hot meal and six frozen
  • A contactless Driver leaves meals on client porch or hanging in a bag from the door handle then either knocks on the door, rings the doorbell, or calls client to make visual contact via a wave through a window.
  • Driver enters home while maintaining social distance and wearing a mask and still has a meaningful conversation with the

 

Curbside Service Meal. With the continued closing of The Gathering Place Senior Center, the congregate lunch meal has now become a Curbside Service Meal. Also available Monday through Friday between 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Please call in advance to reserve your meals. 231.525.0601 or 231.525.0600.

 

Lawn Chore. For lawn care needs and fall spring cleanup, this program ends for the year on November 13, 2020.

 

Snow Removal. This program begins on November 16th. Additional information to be released later in October.

 

In Home Services. Medication Set-up, Respite Care, Personal Care and Homemaker Services all continue to be offered with extra precautions in place to keep staff and clients safe!

 

MMAPs (Medicare/ Medicaid Assistance Program). This service is available by phone and through emails. Medicare Open Enrollment is set to begin on October 15th and end on December 7th. We are ready to help!

 

Telephone Reassurance. Provided to homebound clients to ensure their safety and well-being.

 

The Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) service by Guardian Medical Monitoring. Available to seniors age 60 and older who reside full-time in Benzie County, Guardian Medical Monitoring’s Medical Alarm System is a hands-free, personal help button designed to get help when needed. With instant communication, battery backup and outstanding service from caring professionals, the Guardian PERS instills confidence and security.

 

Project Lifesaver ™. A system of personnel, training and equipment providing an effective way to keep individuals who might wander safe. Project Lifesaver’s mission is to use state-of-the-art

 

technology to assist in finding the location and the recovery of persons diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Dementia or other cognitive disorders and return them safely to their caregivers.

 

The Senior Oral Healthcare Program. Providing financial support for Benzie County Seniors 60 and older. Vouchers are available.

 

Senior Dining Out Vouchers. Available by calling the office. Vouchers will be mailed out once payment is received.

 

The Senior Essential Financial Needs Assistant Program. Assists those in need of financial help for medical, utilities, food, and shelter repairs.

Estate Planning. We are pleased to have this once-a-month service returning in October. Call our office at 231.525.0600 for more information, or to schedule a telephone appointment with an attorney experienced in estate planning to review, update and/or create an estate plan. Set up a durable power of attorney, power of attorney for healthcare, and create a plan of distribution.
